I wanted to answer some of your questions about my skincare routine. What I do to keep my skin looking and feeling great. Here’s a snapshot of my bathroom stash of goods which I’m currently rotating through.
I know it’s a bit much but I’m a beauty whore and have no problem admitting it. I also use my appearance for my career so it’s more than beauty for me. It’s how I make a living.
Some of these products I’ve paid for. Some I’ve gotten for free #sponsored but none and I repeat none of them would I ever recommend without being 100% on board with the brand and the quality. I would NEVER recommend a product or service without:
- trying it myself
- liking/loving the result
Now that we have that out of the way let’s start.
Top shelf is Shiva Rose products. Not only do I love Shiva as a human being and a woman of the world but the products she makes are 100% toxic free and natural. They’re made with the most glorious ingredients and smell like a fresh garden rose. I use the whole line.
The Saffron Rose Facial Scrub: One of my favorite scrubs out there… mostly because it’s not a scrub as we’ve been accustomed to. It’s soft and has bits and pieces of real saffron you can see. You mix a little bit on your palm with a couple of drops of water and slather it on in small circles. I leave it on for 15 min or so and then gently wash off. Not only is your skin smooth and radiant but somehow tighter and lifted. I’m almost 32 years old so this is a plus.
I also use the Nectar Honey Mask… which is really made of those ingredients. It smells like honey and tastes like it too. Although you shouldn’t eat it… I just happened to have it drip on my lips one time.
The price point is very reasonable. I would say it’s in the medium range. Keep in mind this is a natural beauty line and you’re paying for the quality ingredients. It’s an investment in your health since the skin is the largest of your organs. I also believe that it’s better to spend a little more on skincare and thus less on makeup to cover up problem areas.
Then I have my African Botanics obsession.
This company is special in every way. Not only do the products change the complexion, texture, and overall appearance of your skin but the company is dedicated to leaving a better planet. That means the ingredient are sustainably sourced and almost all are organic; No animal products/testing ever.

I use the whole line from cleaner, to moisturizer, to serums, and the clay mask. I noticed a difference in my skin in days of using the line. Fine lines started fading. The red blotchiness around my nose was gone and my t zone was starting to balance itself out. The line is on the expensive side and is an investment for me. Keep in mind I use my face for work. If your budget allows for only 1 or 2 more expensive items I would recommend :
The Neroli Infused Marula Oil:
Balances your skin from oily to normal. From dry to normal. I use it primarily at night and the bottle can easily last you a year.
My favorite cleanser by African Botanics:
Baobab Clay Oxygenating Cleanser it takes everything off. 16 hours of set makeup washes away no problem. Leaving your skin somehow magically clean and no mascara lingering under my eyes. Yes Please!!!
Eminence Organics is a wonderful brand which I rotate in between Shiva Rose and African Botanics.
The price point is in the medium range and the results are terrific. I use the roller ball eye cream every day. It de-puffs your under the eye and just feels great in the morning. I’ve noticed my eyelids don’t droop as much … always a plus.
This mask gives me life. If I’m traveling and need moisture I sleep in this coconut mask overnight… or if you wake up from a night of one too many glasses of wine.
If you share your bed with a partner it doesn’t hurt that this mask blends into your skin pretty well and smells like heaven so not too bad to snuggle up with.
Their scrub is one that’s more traditional and feels more textured… gentle enough not to irritate but will remove any stubborn dry skin and uneven spots.
Sunscreen!!! No excuses!!! Slather it on!!!
I’ve been hunting for years for a sunscreen that works under makeup without leaving a greasy base… or too drying… or having a white sheen come through after I apply foundation.
I’ve been a fan for 7 years using the body products but they recently made this primer with SPF.
Every day all day. Non-greasy perfect for any skin tones. It’s a dream.
The one I use for my body is
I got hooked on my birthday trip to Hawaii and this Plumeria scent takes me back to the waves and beach every time.
Last but not least is the holy grail that is John Masters Organics:
You can find the line at any Whole Foods. I’m obsessed with this brand and have been using it for 8 years. They’re the pioneers of organic luxury beauty products. I use the lip care, soap, shampoo, again the whole line. They have wonderful cleansers, facial oils, and hydrating mists. The price point is affordable with most items in the 20-30 dollar range. The blood orange body lotion makes everyone drool.
I’ll keep you posted on what I run out of and add to my routine. It’s always changing. If you have any questions feel free and ask away.
